Science/Engineering Fair

This year we are kicking off the Science and Engineering Fair earlier than last year so that our 5th and 6th graders that place at Viewmont, will have an opportunity to compete at the District level and then on to the University.

Our school fair is open to all students.  To participate, students will conduct a science experiment or engineering project and make a project board to display their findings. They will also need to participate in a student interview with a judge.

See below for more information specific to your child’s grade.

K-4th grade – not required and non-competitive
5th grade – required, teachers will send out information on what parts of the project will be due and when.
6th grade – required, please contact Mrs. Parsons for further details

We have attached 2 documents (one for Engineering and one for Science) to help you and  your child begin the process.  More information will be coming soon.  Also included is the project entry form that needs to be turned in by December 20th 2018.

Videos and tips to support your child can be found at the University of Utah Science & Engineering Fair website.

Every Thursday (starting December 6th) , PTA will host an after school Science & Engineering Fair meetup for parents and students that need help with their projects.  During these meetups we will spend 10 minutes teaching the children a topic that correlates to where they should be at in their project.  The remaining time will be spent working answering questions and helping them with their projects.
